The principle
Agree it in writing, then prove it
A buyer and a seller can use the same word for two different things. "Good quality turmeric" means nothing at the point where a container is rejected. A curcumin percentage, a moisture ceiling and a packing spec mean something.
Our quality process is not a certificate on a wall. It is a sequence: write the specification down, buy from someone who can meet it, check the goods before they move, and hand over documents that let your side clear them.
How it runs
Five controls on every order
Specification
The parameters that decide acceptance — moisture, purity, size, colour, packing, shelf life — are written into the order before it is placed.
Vendor assessment
We buy from suppliers who genuinely handle that product at that grade, not from whoever quotes lowest. Capacity and past performance both count.
Sampling
Samples are drawn from the actual lot being offered, not a showroom bag, and sent for your approval where the grade matters.
Pre-shipment inspection
Goods are checked against the written specification before packing and stuffing. Third-party inspection can be arranged where you want it.
Testing
Laboratory analysis — aflatoxin, pesticide residue, heavy metals, microbiology — arranged where the destination market or your own customer requires it.
Documentation
Export paperwork prepared for the destination's requirements and shared for checking before the vessel sails.
What a specification should cover
For most food commodities, these are the parameters worth fixing in writing. Not all apply to every product — but the ones that do should be numbers, not adjectives.
| Parameter | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Moisture content | Drives shelf life, mould risk and weight. The single most common cause of claims. |
| Purity / admixture | How much of the cargo is the product and how much is everything else. |
| Size or count | Grade and price band — grain length, chickpea count, egg weight, chilli length. |
| Colour | Objective where a scale exists (ASTA for chilli), agreed against a sample where it does not. |
| Broken / defective % | Decides the commercial grade on rice, pulses and nuts. |
| Active content | Curcumin in turmeric, pungency in chilli, oil content in seeds. |
| Contaminant limits | Aflatoxin, pesticide residue, heavy metals — set by your destination market. |
| Packing & net weight | Bag type, liner, net and gross weight, marks and labelling. |
| Shelf life at despatch | How much life the goods have left when they leave, not when they were made. |
If you are not sure which parameters your market enforces, describe the end use and the destination. Advising on that is part of the service, not an extra.
Inspection and third parties
We inspect goods ourselves before despatch as a matter of course. Where you want independent verification — because your own customer requires it, or because the order is large enough to justify it — third-party inspection by an agency of your choosing can be arranged and built into the schedule.
Where an inspection finds goods outside specification, you will hear about it from us before the container is sealed. An inconvenient result reported early costs far less than a rejected consignment at the destination port.
Documentation
Which documents apply depends on the product and the destination. These are the ones that come up on a typical food or industrial shipment out of India:
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list
- Bill of lading or airway bill
- Certificate of origin
- Phytosanitary certificate
- Veterinary / health certificate
- Fumigation certificate
- Certificate of analysis
- Insurance certificate
- Inspection certificate
Import requirements differ by country and change over time. Tell us the destination early and we will confirm what your side needs before the goods move.
Registrations
Crudo is a GST-registered company in Tamil Nadu, India — GSTIN 33AAKCC8884D1ZF. Buyers who need further registration or licence details for their import documentation should ask, and we will provide what applies to your consignment.
Buy on a specification, not a promise
Send us the parameters that matter to your market and we will quote against them.
